While their GPUs power some of the most powerful notebooks and PCs around, Nvidia has shifted focus to the automotive industry for this week's CES in Las Vegas. The company's press conference dealt with Nvidia's efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into a vehicle. To that end, Nvidia detailed a partnership with German carmaker Audi.
The pair are working to design a vehicle that will be fully compatible with Nvidia's AI DRIVE PX Platform and DriveWorks software. Both systems would not only allow the car to be fully autonomous, but also feature the ability to learn while driving, which should assist in avoiding accidents.
The demo model of this vehicle (Audi Q7) will be available to see in action at CES, but looking to the future, the pair are planning to have a fully legal road-going version of the advanced AI car by 2020.
